Hot chocolate is not just a delicious drink, but a healthy drink. It has been consumed to treat ailments and to meditate for centuries. Drinking chocolate has a long history, In deed, ancient Mesoamerican people consume the cacao for a nutritional purpose. In this time the cacao was valuable and consecrated. It was used not only for a medical purpose, but a religious and financial purpose. This is the recipe that make this yummy and healthy drink more powerful by adding the superfood Maca, a blessing of the high Andes of Peru.


2½ cups almond milk
2 tbsp cacao powder or cocoa powder
1 tbsp maca powder
2 tablespoon maple syrup
½ tsp coconut oil
pinch of cinnamon
tiny pinch of sea salt



  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, add almond milk. After giving the milk a few minutes to warm, whisk in cacao powder, coconut oil, maca powder, cinnamon, sea salt.

  2. When large clumps have dissolved, whisk in maple syrup and vanilla extract. Whisk periodically until mixture is smooth and desired temperature is achieved. 

  3. Remove from heat and serve into mugs.
