VIRTUAL TOUR : 18 PHOTOS TO INSPIRE YOU TO VISIT SRI LANKA

In 2007, I visited Sri Lanka while the country’s civil war was still ongoing. The ethnic conflict between the Sinhalese majority and the Tamil minority lasted for 26 years (1983–2009), and up to 100,000 people were killed. This war continues to cast a dark shadow over this otherwise friendly nation.

Despite the instability at the time, Sri Lanka was a beautiful country, and the people were incredibly kind and full of hospitality.

The civil war ended in 2009, and it is said that Sri Lanka became a united nation. Today, many tourists visit the country and have unforgettable experiences. I would like to visit again, especially to the northern region, which I couldn’t go to back then due to the intense fighting.

Sorry, some of the pictures are low quality. I used both a digital camera and a film camera, and some of the images were scanned from photographic negatives.
