Undoubtedly local food forms one of the most important part of great travel experiences. Considering that “Washoku”, traditional dietary cultures of the Japanese, was registered in the World Cultural Property List by Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), not only foodies but all travelers can’t exclude Japan from the candidate for their traveling destination.
Variety of Japanese Cuisine
The land of Japan is not big, but long from north to south. Japanese life deeply is related with natural diversity like mountains and oceans. In addition, we have four seasons; Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Such geographical features and climatic variations variegate Japanese food culture. You can choose different types of meals every day. In other words, it’s difficult to eat all kinds of Japanese food, even for Japanese people. But I try eating as many kinds of Japanese food as possible without giving up.
UNESCO and Japanese Cuisine
In December 2013, UNESCO registered Washoku in Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Why did they accept our proposal? The essential spirit of respect for nature is deeply associated with Washoku. While Washoku is supported by rich foodstuff, the favor of Mother Nature, this mentality which developed from ancient days sustains natural resources. UNESCO evaluates this spirits.
Washoku is Japanese Culture
Washoku is not only Japanese cuisine but the dietary cultures of Japanese people. How about having experiences of this beautiful culture?
