RECIPE: Maca-Infused Guacamole, A Superfood Twist on a Classic

I love Mexican food, and avocado is one of my favorites. I often make guacamole at home because it’s easy to prepare, pairs perfectly with beer, and is delicious. When I visited Peru, I brought back maca powder, so now I add it to my guacamole. As you probably know, avocado is great for health and beauty, and maca may enhance those benefits. The recipe is simple, but it’s sure to provide plenty of satisfaction.

 INGREDIENTS
2-3 ripe avocados
1/2 tsp sea salt
1tbsp of lemon/lime juice
1/2 onion, minced
1-2 serrano chiles, stems and seeds removed, minced
2tbsp cilantro, finely chopped
A dash of grated black pepper
3tsp of Maca powder

 DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut the avocados in half. Remove seed. Scoop out the flesh with a spoon. And place in a bowl.
  2. With a fork, roughly mash the avocado.
  3. Sprinkle with salt and lemon juice.
  4. Add the rest of ingredients.
  5. Serve into plate or avocado.
